People vs. Humans
July 4, 2008
Mary is still building her internal dictionary and thesaurus. One of the funniest synonyms is her use of the word Humans.
Example:
The other day we were camping up at Six Mile Lake. Sitting in our tent we face the lake but can hear people traffic behind us. As we were sitting there, Mary heard a noise in the background of footsteps, likely someone walking to the nearby toilettes.
She says: “Mommy, I hear humans coming!”
I guess she is being universally politically correct in her accuracy.

She’s being very scientific. She wants to indicate the species that she recognizes. Maybe someday she’ll hear barking and say, “I hear canines.”
