Mary and Matthew were eager to do an outdoor activity after a wet couple of days held them indoors.

On the way to church Mary asks…

Mary: can we go to the park after church?

Mom responds trying to avoid a promise at this point.

Miriam: We’ll see… I’m not going to say Yes or No.

Mary genuinely puzzled by the lack of remaining responses, pauses and then asks under her breath

Mary: Then what are you going to say?

Approaching what was suppose to be a soggy wet weekend, Miriam was prepping Matthew for a canceled soccer practice and game. She did explain though that he can pray for a sunny day, and perhaps God can help out with his request.

As folks in Toronto know, Saturday turned out to be a surprisingly BEAUTIFUL day!

Later that day Matthew turned to me and said,

Daddy, it’s sunny outside because I prayed.

Then he whispered…

I don’t think we’re going to have school anymore either.

Matthew got a hockey play set from his aunt Marylyn.

We were playing downstairs in the basement a game of ball hockey. The kids were still getting use to whaling a stick around to hit a ball. In the middle of all that stick waving, Matthew accidentally slashed his sister between the legs to which she replied: “Ouch! My penis!”
