Trying to describe what “empathy” means, Miriam said, “It’s like being in someone else’s shoes and feeling what they feel…”

Mary responds, “Oh, I know. So it’s like I try my friend’s shoes on, and if it hurts I’ll tell her not to wear them.”

Mary was wondering about life and death… and whether people take turns in heaven being reincarnated on earth then going back up to heaven. Her mom told her, “It’s possible but no one knows for sure”. To which Mary responded.. “Just check the internet!”

Matthew’s really into Spiderman these days.
So much that he sings various thoughts to the Spiderman theme.

e.g. Dinosaurs.. Dinosaurs.. where did you go my Dinosaurs.

…. and God, please be with those people that watched a scary movie today, so that they are not scared when they go to bed.

Matthew is use to hearing “What happened?” from a soft sympathetic voice whenever he is found crying, and decided to use it himself. Though I think he needs to work on when to use it….

We were play wrestling on the ground in the evening. Matthew in his excitement gave dad a big slap on the cheek. I screamed “Ouch!”.. to which he replied… “What happened?”

Mary is still building her internal dictionary and thesaurus. One of the funniest synonyms is her use of the word Humans.

Example:

The other day we were camping up at Six Mile Lake. Sitting in our tent we face the lake but can hear people traffic behind us. As we were sitting there, Mary heard a noise in the background of footsteps, likely someone walking to the nearby toilettes.

She says: “Mommy, I hear humans coming!”

I guess she is being universally politically correct in her accuracy.

Mary had been acting up today and managed to get in trouble by both me and Miriam. After getting a third lecture she finally turned and said, “When is it my turn to be upset!?!”

Mary was on the phone with her grandma. My mom had bought her a new pair of jeans and wanted to give them to her. So my mom said, “When you have time, come over. I have somthing for you.”

Mary replied looking at her new watch that her uncle George got her for Christmas, “But I have time already!”

Here’s one coincidentally in line with the season. While driving home yesterday evening, Mary seemed to be staring out her window for a long time. I asked her what was wrong. She whispered, “The Moon is following us!”
